The Ocean Alliance members—CMA CGM, COSCO, Evergreen and OOCL—signed an agreement on January 9 to launch its Day 4 Product which is scheduled to start in April this year.

Under the agreement, the companies will deploy 325 containerships on 38 services, with an estimated carrying capacity of around 3.8 million TEUs. French container shipping giant CMA CGM will be the operator of 112 vessels.

With the Day 4 Product, the alliance will expand its global trade network and present more port calls, more direct links and shorter transit times for its customers.

The alliance was launched in spring 2017 and considered to be the world’s largest operational agreement between shipping companies. The evolution of the product will include:

·       Nineteen services on the transpacific trade

·       Seven services between Asia and Europe

·       Four services between Asia and the Mediterranean

·       Two transatlantic services linking North Europe to the East Coast of the United States and the Gulf of Mexico

·       Four services between Asia and the Middle East

·       Two Asia-Red Sea services

One year after the extension of Ocean Alliance partnerships until 2027, the launch of the Day 4 Product will enable us to further strengthen the competitiveness and quality of CMA CGM’s offer. With this agreement, we are pursuing the continuous improvement of our services,” Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the CMA CGM Group, said at the signing ceremony.
